Gatlinburg Football Game Relocated Due To Flood Damage

Gatlinburg Football Game Relocated Due to Flood Damage

Emergency Management Relocates Football Game

Due to severe flooding, this weekend's football game between Gatlinburg-Pittman High School and Pigeon Forge High School is being moved to Pigeon Forge's LeConte Stadium.

Stadium Damage Assessment

Park manager Tim Berry said the fields at Gatlinburg-Pittman High School are "unplayable" after heavy rainfall caused the nearby West Prong of the Little Pigeon River to overflow its banks. Berry said the flooding caused between $150,000 to $200,000 in damage to the school.

Assessments are still being made for damage to the field and press box.

Game Time and Date Unchanged

The game will still take place as scheduled on Friday, August 19 at 7:30 p.m. Season tickets will be honored at the new location.

Fans without season tickets can purchase tickets at the gate for $7. Concessions will also be available at the stadium.

Safety First

Officials say the safety of the players and fans is their top priority and that they would not have moved the game if they did not believe LeConte Stadium was a safe venue.

They also ask that fans be patient as they work to get the Gatlinburg-Pittman field repaired.
