Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and his husband, Chasten, have made history as the first openly gay couple to adopt children while serving in a U.S. presidential cabinet.
In early September, the couple announced the birth of their first children, Penelope Rose and Joseph August Buttigieg. On Saturday, they confirmed that the children were adopted.
The twins had a fun-filled Easter at the 2023 White House Easter Egg Roll, where they were joined by their parents and other families.
"It's a joy to be able to share this moment with so many other families," Buttigieg said in a statement. "We're so grateful for the opportunity to be parents, and we're excited to see what the future holds for our family."
