Blake Griffin, Former NBA All-Star, Announces Retirement

Six-Time NBA All-Star Calls it a Career After 13 Seasons

Former NBA All-Star Blake Griffin has officially announced his retirement from the league. The veteran forward made the announcement via an Instagram post on Tuesday, bringing an end to a decorated 13-year career.

Griffin, the first overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, was a six-time NBA All-Star and a one-time All-NBA Second Team selection. He was widely regarded as one of the most explosive dunkers and entertaining players in the league.

Throughout his career, Griffin played for the Los Angeles Clippers, Detroit Pistons, Brooklyn Nets, and Miami Heat. He averaged 18.0 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game over his 13 seasons.

Retirement rumors had swirled around Griffin in recent years as he battled injuries and declined physically. However, he had signed a five-year, $171 million contract extension with the Clippers just a few months before announcing his retirement.

Griffin's departure is a significant loss for the NBA. He leaves behind a legacy as one of the most popular and exciting players of his generation.
